I think “The House of God”, a fictional memoir of a first-year Doctor’s residency should be given credit for many of those terms, which, like it or not, have been bandied about in our own hospitals here in Perth on occasion.

It’s not just the medical profession that has this sort of stuff. We get told at work often not to use jargon but then again this is so much jargon there that when you are talking to each other, it is so much easier. People are constantly thinking of new acronyms & abbreviations including changing some non politically correct ones and making them PC.
