The Indian cricket team"s tour of Australia was today put on virtual hold by BCCI which is demanding revocation of the three-Test ban on off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and the removal of West Indian umpire Steve Bucknor for the remainder of the series.

Peter Roebuck is an idiot! Is he calling for Kumble to be sacked after one of his players was found guilty of making a racial attack on a fellow player! He may have be target (which is wrong) but that is no excuse!
If you ask men, I agree that the best answer is to ban all sledging from the game. If the Indians are as offended as they say by Brag Hoggs alleged comments, he should miss a match/matches as well.

Ponting is so up himself. Sure - he was chasing records but has been arrogant on and off the field. He was aware of the poor umpiring decisions - and used them to his advantage - and never once in press reports did he publicly sympathise with the Indian team for some of the questionable decisions. I am sure someone will reply and say “You take advantage of everything” - but do you?? Cricket is a game. Pontings arrogance at a press conference - telling questioning Indian journalists that if they doubted HIS WORD, they shouldn’t be there (words to that effect) were embarrassing.
Ponting should have declared earlier in the piece. Even after Australia had won, there wasn’t any gesture of friendship to the departing batsmen. Peter Roebuck’s article said everything

No it’s not. It’s a business. The sooner everyone comes to terms with that and stops with the stupid nonsense that ‘it’s only a game’ the sooner they will understand why the Australians play it hard and fair. Hard because they are paid on performance and winning means more bucks; and fair because any transgression will cost them big bucks.

Sure it’s business - but does that excuse arrogance or lack of courtesy to a visiting side?

What? Your kidding right? The Indians called him a cheat and he stuck up for himself. Bad luck the ICC didn’t follow suite when they hung Buckner out to dry after saying that they wouldn’t let one team control who umpired the game.
On the field Ponting Celebrated the win and Shock the Indians hand. Or should he racially abused the Indians as one of the Indian players was found guilty of, is that how you offer friendship?
It would seems to me that Ponting made the correct decision on declaration. They won the match, that is all they needed to do and don’t bring up the umpiring, yes it was bad, and yes it went the Aussies way but unless you have a time machine to go back and fix the first mistake it is impossible to know what the real outcome would have been (and wasn’t the first mistake the Ponting was given out LBW off the middle of his bat?).
I think the Indians would be smart to boycott the perth test as image having to face a fired up Lee and Tait on the WACA wicket after the Indian captain all but called their captain a cheat! I wonder what the odds are on him getting a bouncer first up when/if he bats in Perth.
