Boost Juice pull 10% VIBE club discount
From a media release emailed today:
"Unfortunately due to the drought in Australia, the cost of making you the freshest juices and smoothies has gone up substantially, especially in the last 12 months; so much so that we have had to make a tough decision... either put our prices up, or keep them at the existing price and remove the 10% discount for VIBE members. We have chosen to remove the 10% VIBE discount, effective 1st February 2008."
It's not all bad news however:
"You can, however, still enjoy the benefits of the Boost loyalty stamp card (buy 10 and get the 11th free). Our VIBE club remains with great monthly specials and exclusive offers to members, such as the VIBE Challenge and your free Birthday Boost. Should the drought break and the cost of our ingredients come back down, we will review the 10% discount again."

Boo. So longtime customers get shafted preferentially. Surely not a good way to do business?

It’s hit cafes too - the Guru Coffee franchise in Canberra all put their prices up this year by about 20-30 cents. Though I think their reasoning was the price of milk.

For the loyal VIBE customers they have in effect put their prices up 10%.

Good point - though even if they’d gone with the other option VIBE Club members such as myself would still have to pay more anyway, unless they increased the Club discount - unlikely that was considered.

I actually work at Boost Juice and signed up to this website to purely comment on this topic.
Although ‘apparently’ the public do not care that we are suffering from a drought, and in effect produce, especially dairy prices have substantially risen, it is the truth, and what better way can something be explained?
When a VIBE customer approaches our store to make a purchase I have been alerting them of the changes which are soon approaching, and there is also a sign at the front of our store for customers to read regarding this matter.
I believe that boost has attempted to cover all aspects and still offer the boost loyalty card, which in effect give consumers the same discount in a lump sum, by giving them their 11th free drink, rather than discounts.
All is not lost, a new VIBE system is been created as we speak and should be out by later in the year.

Thanks for joining up at the Norg, Saralah, and for the information; I don’t mind about prices going up - still cheaper than Starbucks! And healthier too - I usually get Boost Juice 3 times a week. Good that you’ve been proactive with informing the public … the email from Boost Juice I got 2 days ago was the first I’ve heard of it … and as I said, I’m at the store at least 3 times a week. But I’m not too concerned so I didn’t get the email and freak out with “How DARE you Janine!”
