I wonder why Australia is obese
Seen on www.smh.com.au this morning. On the above image, you see an article about obesity and then right below a recipe for making your own chocolate wagon wheels. I think that explains why Australia is obese. Blog appears on www.vickylalwani.com

Well, I wonder how important fitness is in modern society, considering the various lifestyles we have, esteem and relationships aside, is fat utilitarian?

I was shocked to hear that Australia has a higher obesity rate than America - 26 per cent obesity, compared to 25 per cent in the US. And we pride ourselves on being such a sporting nation! No wonder our health system in in such crisis.
Blaming advertisers is not going to solve the problem. It comes down to individual attitudes in my opinion - blaming government inaction, the media and fast-food outlets is just avoiding individual responsibility. Nobody shoves food in your mouth, but yourself. Of course parents need to account for their overweight kids.

Too right Bronwen. I know that providing PR services to McDonald’s in Perth hardly makes me a voice of reason, but as long as fast food restaurants provide cost-effective alternatives to the fattier menu items, what makes them any different to any other restaurant?
I could order a Heart Tick Meal, or I could decide to go the burger option at Maccas… I could choose a chicken salad, or a weighty fettucine at an Italian restaurant… it’s up to YOU!
